OSSA Confined Space

This one-day course is developed to meet the Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) standards and comply with Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation relating to confined spaces. It is designed to provide owners, managers, supervisors, and workers with guidance on legislation requirements for confined space entry. It is recommended for those who conduct planning for entry into confined spaces, supervise others, or who do work in confined spaces themselves.

  • Introduction to industry and OSSA codes of proactive and permit systems as they relate to confined space
  • Overview of legal, financial and ethical aspects
  • Characteristics of confined space
  • How to identify, eliminate, and control hazards
  • Evaluating entry plans
  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of a confined space monitor
