Planning on working in Northern Alberta or the Oil sands? OSSA Orientation is your first step. This OSSA-approved general safety awareness Orientation provides the knowledge needed to enter and work at projects on OSSA member worksites. At a minimum workers are required to obtain an OSSA Regional Orientation certificate before they are granted entry.

Note: This is not a classroom course with scheduled sessions—just call us for an appointment and we will arrange a time to provide the instruction you need.

Course content

  • Brief background of OSSA sites and the active projects there
  • Safety policies and emergency response systems for the sites
  • Standard working procedures at these sites
  • The variety of hazards at oil sands projects
